When it first opened on April 14th, 1979, The Beast debuted as the longest, tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world. Now, more than 20 years later, this classic wooden coaster is still tearing through the terrain of Southern Ohio, covering more ground than any other wooden coaster on the planet.
This revolutionary scream machine roars at speeds of over 65 miles per hour through dense woods and rocky ravines, while traveling through underground tunnels and a 570° helix!
The Beast rides on 7,400 feet of track, more than any other woodie, and has been voted the best wooden roller coaster in many polls year after year. This record holder is a definite "must ride" on any coaster lover's journey to Paramount's Kings Island.
Central Tip: A trip to PKI would be incomplete without tackling The Beast after dark! One of the best night time rides in the world!

Before then, the best time to ride the Beast was during, or after a shower of rain. When the old trims would get wet, they did a poor job of slowing down the train, which made the excitement of the ride go up ten fold.
it is soooo fun!!!

PS c.j.:
You shouldn't believe everything you see, hear and read about amusement parks. A lot of that stuff is based on unconfirmed reports and a lot of time isn't true. I believe the TOP GUN incident is true, a lady supposedly ignored the heart trouble warning on the sign by the ride's entrance and had a heart attack. But as for a 19 year old falling off the Eiffel tower -- That is completely illogical to me. That has to be one of the most impossible things that you can possibly do, especially since the biggest gap for anything to fall through is only 4.5 inches. If it did happen somehow, it must've happened like 30 years ago, and likely didn't happen at all.
We reached the top of the first chain-lift, and just as we head down the first hill, I spot the brakes on the track. Then, I feel them slow us down... Once we reach the bottom of the hill and turn the corner, the ride starts to get exciting, but before we go through the series of small hills before the straight-away, another set of brakes slow us down again. The only positive thing that I can say about the ride is that there were no brakes at the top of the 2nd lift hill that I could feel. The double-helix with the tunnel was still good, but we didnt even care to ride a 2nd time that day cause the rest of the ride felt so "throttled back".
In comparison, the SOB was running part of the day. The loop was gone, but the fun was not. :) The thing was fast, rough, and reminded me of the Beast when the Beast was not throttled back. The only thing that kept me from riding it a 3rd time was the soreness of my neck. :)
Does anyone think the Beast could be physically moved over to Nickelodeon land? Seriously, the Beast is awefully lame these days. I honestly had no desire to ride it again.
Don't be fooled.
cant wait to ride it this summer !!
IT IS SO S-O SO WORTH THE WAIT.
:]
this is THE BEST ride at the park, i HAVE to make a trip to it EVERY time i go to ki. i used to make a joke when i was littler that the beast was my girlfriend. :D
So ride it while you can..
the next day we went i thought that I should ride it first thing. When me and my dad were half way in line my dad said. By the way did you know this was the most intense ride in the park? Then I freaked out, rode it, and ever since it has been my favorite ride!

Last of all while going down the best part, (the first hill), point at the caamera with both hands and grin. There you have it! The perfect ride.
it just needs to be retired.
