Drop Tower was part of KI's Action Zone expansion in 1999, and has been rattling the knees of riders and onlookers ever since.

This freefall ride built by Intamin AG took drop rides to a new height, a record breaking 315 feet above ground. Spinning you all the way to the top, the ring of passengers stops, stays, then outright plummets towards the ground at a whopping 67 mph. Dropping 26 stories, a magnetic breaking system takes effect, and eases riders back to the ground.

The most visited non-coaster in the park, make sure you don't miss out on this one!

Central Tip: Although Drop Tower can be enjoyed day or night, try to ride in the evening. Lines can be dramatically shorter after 6:00 pm.

i am a member here it is not being taken out Dustin don't start rumors because some people will believe them it is not being removed it was shut down for inspection and a new part from the manufacture is coming and it has and it is back up and running and they where not the same type of ride this is a gyro drop and the one in Kentucky is a giant drop

hi im shakur and i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove that ride. Its 315 feet and im only 10 and i got on it. i got on everything at kings island, Cincinnati Ohio, including the new ride FIRE HAWK .i would cry for life if they they closed kings island down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a courtesy to those that aren't too familiar with the park, don't post rumors about rides being torn down. I noticed this sort of thing running rampant in the Vortex's comments as well. This ride is staying, they just closed it temporarily to make sure everything was in working order, and so that another similar accident does not occur.
Great ride. It's always unpredictable once you reach the top as to when it's going to drop. The anticipation is killer, and once the car drops you're left speechless.

Thats Rediculous. Drop Zone is not going anywhere, they closed it because it is simaler to the SFKK model, and they didn't want to take risks. It is fine, up and running, and will probably have a very long life.

I LOVE THIS RIDE. I used to be terrified of it, but I made myself ride it and now it's my favorite ride in the park. I throw my hands up when we reach the top and stick my legs out so I lift out of my seat when the latch releases, and I feel the full force of the drop.. AMAZING

great ride, it gets your blood pumping, and it has a great view.

I love this ride. I'm going with a group to KI June 30th, 3 days after the Buckeye Haflinger Show where I am taking my horse, so yeah, I'll be having an awesome summer.
Anyway, I'm freaked out right now, the wait before the drop always makes me mad cuz I'm like "Just drop me!" then, when you get to be thinking of othr stuff, boom, your choking on your own spit.

If you think that you have a strong stomach, try riding this one. I went to KI yesterday and rode this and it was definetely the most intense thrill ride I have ever rode or saw. This thing makes you feel like you weigh nothing. It is just awesome. In my opinion the best thrill ride in the world (not counting top thrill dragster or kingda ka).

this is the only ride in the whole park that ctually scares me. i can take any roller coaster, because you know what's coming. but when it stops, the goes back up again? a little freaky. then, you only get about a 6th of a second warning when you hear the little "click" when it lets loose. then there's no time to scream! this ride will promote usage of your adrenaline !

I ran out of scream on the way down. This and the Crypt are my favorite non coaster rides at the park. This is the closest drop tower now that Superman Tower of Power is gone (unless you count Liberty Launch, but it bounces).

This was a good Thrill Ride.
The drop was good n scary. I really liked this ride cause it reminded me of "Freefall" a ride they had at Six Flags Valencia California. It is no longer there they took it off a few years ago.
And I loved it. I just love it when it gets to the top and you wait a bit not knowing when it will drop it gets you by surprize n when it happens it feels like your heart will come out thru your mouth as your dropping! Fun Fun Fun!

well, to start off, the ride's name is not 'Drop Zone' anymore :-) at the top of the page it says the correct name- drop tower- but inthe 'attractions' list, it says drop zone. anyhoo, about the ride. it's a real thriller, but i don't think it was worth the 45 minute wait. as i say, though, i will never pass up a chance to ride a drop tower. :-)

this is one of the best rides in the park its like you are on the eifel tower but you are only up their for a couple minutes and when you are at the very top and it starts slowing down you will here something click count to 7 and you fallllllllllllll

They are not taking the drop zone out of kings island, they are taking the superman which is the same thing out of 6 flags (a differant park) because thats where the girl got her feet cut off by the cable, not in kings islands dropzone. Because the person who wrote it was being tooken out said that comment 4 years ago, I was just at kings island in the summer of 2009 and it is still there and working just fine.

jk ut my fave ride was the drop zone and peyton maybe u should just try all the rides hey it might turn out u like but i would reccomend u try the smallest and work your way up to the big rides but u should most definntley try the drop zone because that onen was my all time FAVORITE!
