Using a new technology known as Linear Induction, coaster designer Werner Stengel and Premier Rides brought an all-new experience to Paramount's Kings Island in 1996. Flight of Fear was the first coaster in the world to catapult its riders 0-55 mph in less than four seconds.

Entering through a spaceship being held for study in a state-of-the-art hangar, riders are suddenly yanked out of their own world and thrust into the unknown. What the journey holds, however, is some of the most twisted, turned and torrid track ever created. And what's more, it's all indoors.

Reaching a top speed of 54 mph, the coaster tears through it's half-mile course while turning riders upside-down four times. This one is definitely not for the faint of heart!

Central Tip: For the Summer of 2001, the ride was re-fitted with lapbar restraints in lieu of the old "over-the-shoulder" type. If you remember a significant amount of "head-banging" going on during your last "flight," you'll be more than pleased with the new restraints. The freedom of the new lapbars opens up a whole new experience on this great roller coaster.

i am soooooooooo glad that they took the shoulder harnesses and put those lap harnesses because when i rode top gun i got a headache because of the shoulder harnesses

By far, My favorite Coaster. Just watch out for the bit of a jerk to the left you will receive as the train climbs into the cobra roll at the end of the launch tunnel, especially towards the rear of the train. And you might want to try to use the lockers out front by X-Flight/Firehawk for your bags/purses -- there is a fairly new rule that states that you MUST hold on to these things on the ride with you, or in other words, the ride operators will NOT hold on to your stuff! As far as taking your stuff with you . . . It shouldn't be too much trouble with all the vertical G's holding it in with you : )

GREAT coaster i love it but not reccommended for larger people like myself the train gets kindve snug and sometimes the seat belt for your feet wont close. (note this is taken buy a 245 lb teenager)

omgggggggg i just went on that ride yesturday for the first time and it was my first upside down rollercoaster! it was creeeeeeeepy but the only flip thing i felt was the last corkscrew :D heheehee but now my friends say that i can ride every ride in the park no cuz thats the scarest one but i dont think soo i think firehawk is now the scariest hehe

My FAVORITE roller coaster! I went on a Monday, the wait was about ten or fifteen minutes and I rode it 3 times. It was awesome. Great experience, corny video at the beginning, but a fun atmosphere, altogether great ride. The majority of the people are saying, OMG, lets ride it again! when you get off, lol

This ride is very amazing, from the sudden launch to the huge cobra roll in the steel structure. I loved the ride, well worth the 45 minutes I waited for it! I never rode it when it had OTSRs (over the shoulder restraints), but I can imagine what it was like when it had OTSRs, rough! :-) Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10. Sincerely, Graem, a iMac user

I saw a picture of the inside of flight of fear with the lights on and I don't see how you hit don't your head on a support at any point on the ride.

There is no reason to change the name of Flight of Fear, since it has no confliction with any Paramount movie, and is not under any naming rights. It did have an Outer Limits: Flight of Fear name, but when the Outer Limits T.V. show was cancelled, the changed it to just Flight of Fear. This is, by and large, the best roller coaster at Kings Island! I absolutely love that they have cameras on the ride now too! The only thing is that the lockers for the ride cost money now:(

unless they changed the ride in the last month the cars are not green and the do not go over your head, a seat belt snaps at you legs and a lap bar that is it and it is silver and red I think but I know it is not Green.

This is an all aroun great roller coaster. I remember the first time i got on it. it was about 2 months ago. it actualy was my first looping rollercoaster let alone im only 12. my favorite part is when it launches you and thin the cool sound effects and the smoke, woo we it was a great experience in speed and thrill. lets just say it was awsome!

ONE OF the best rides at thepark. When your waiting in line, it can take a long time. When you get up to where it launches from, you just hear a really loud blast everytime it blasts out of the room. I just went on it a couple weeks ago, so I've never riden with the shoulder bars.
It was awsome with the lap bars though. I am always a bit worried when they use lapbars instead of shoulder bars on such intense coasters. I think it makes since though, after reading about head banging. I know a ride at another park that did that a lot to me.
Ovcerall it ads to the thrill for me to just have the lap bar.
Yeah, definitly not for th faint of heart. But if you love coasters, its a great one.
I like to keep my head back against the seat when it starts up, cause launches pretty fast.

I luv this ride I wish I would have rode this year but the line is always ridiculously long so yeah... And to Candi ^ up there the seats were never green that's one of the lights reflecting of the the sliver. But when they first opened up it did have over head restraints though

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! do not ride in the second car from the front on the right side! thereis a little raised part on the floor that will crush the life out of your foot the whole ride, and it ruins the experience! i don't know if it is a raised area needed for the mechanics of the ride or for some emergency brake, but it hurts! i tried to take my foot out ofthe spot and my hip went *pop*. not a pleasant experience. but it's my favorite ride! lol

i agree, this is by far my favorite. it's indoor, it's smooth, it goes upside down (excuse me, it's inverted :) ) and it's not a really short rise. fof is the best!!!

This is the best ride in the world! I went to Kings island in 6th grade when I was still afraid of Roller Coasters. My friends finally talked me into riding it and I said ok! Well I absolutly loved it and I also love roller coasters, and now I'll ride any rollercoaster I see. I'm going this summer with my dad and possibly my brother and mom. But i would prefer my mom not go I just want it to be a guys trip!

Hah....great ride, but such a horrible wait. I had to wait almost three (3) hours to ride the coaster. Summer heat and standing for 3 hours in a crowded building do not make for a good time.
