Planning?

It's apparently an expansion of the park north of The Racer that's been in planning for sometime. (The removal of the Laser Tag building last season was the first piece of the puzzle....) It will likely connect the rear of Coney Mall to XBase at some point. But it's definitely a topography of the land there. (What is hard to make out is that there are points notated all along that "layout" which suggests to me survey markings notating land height.)

(FYI... topography work on SOB began nearly 2 years prior to any wood ever being raised on the land. They then spent months re-inforcing, leveling the ground and installing a vast drainage system.)

I agree that it would be nice to eventually connect X Base to another point closer toward where the Laser Tag building used to sit. However, there are quite a few maintenance buildings just to the north of The Racer that would prevent a path from easily connecting to down there. I definitely would say this is a long range project. That is of course, assuming that it is even a legitimate project. It could just be a decoy t throw us off and get us talking about this area, while they are planning work on another area. At the bare minimum, it would be nice if they added a restroom back at X-Base. Currently the only restrooms in Coney Mall are at the extreme ends.

Only time will tell I guess, if those drawings have any credibility to future projects at the park.

So is it just me or does that look a lot like the strange picture that KI posted and no one knew what the drawing or outline was refering too? I am at work right now and cannot go back and check as those photos won't load for me. If someone can compaire the two that would be great.

Edit: I was able to go back and check but cannot post the two images as of yet, but it looks as if the picture on the Facebook page posted on National Red Day is a variation of this layout or expansion on the maps.

I just saw this on my news feed. Taking a good look at the photo you can see the Turnaround for Racer. I'm intrigued to know what this is. Looks like a Topography map to be honest.

Very, very good eye! I missed that the first time, and I had to look at my monitor at a strange angle to even see it!

I don't see this being a coaster... too many sharp turns. I completely agree with a topography map... it was the first thing I thought when I saw the picture. It's only February, and they are trying to get us excited for 2012 at the earliest?! Geeze!

I do not know who the people are in that picture. None of them look like Rob Decker, the Corporate Vice President of design at Cedar Fair. Secondly, why does that one guy still have his jacket on? And notice that while the one guy has a yellow highlighter in his hand, there are no yellow markings on either sheet. Both sheets appear to be the same. It certainly seems like it could be a staged picture.

While the highlighted area could very well be topographic information, it doesn`t seem to fit with some of the topography in that area. Ie, every point on that highlighted line, if it is representing topography, would be at the same elevation. And that path that leads away from Firehawk down towards the back woods and the Little Miami River has quite a grade change to it. The plans certainly have WindSeeker in it. Which leads me to my next question.

The fireworks launch pad has been right there on the other side of the north (Red Racer) turn around, right by the Action Theater. It was moved there after Firehawk was built. Because of its close proximity to The Racer and Beast, both of those attractions cease operations shortly before the fireworks begin, and usually resume operation to finish out their lines after the all clear has been given. Given WindSeeker`s close proximity to the launch site, will it to face a similar nightly procedure? Or is this "planning" image, indicating that they are merely trying to scout out a new location for the fireworks launch pad so that they do not have to shut down a new ride at night? Hopefully, we will get an answer at some point, and this is not just left as an unanswered clue with nothing else ever mentioned about it.

I also darkened the image and changed the contrast, and i could see yellow highlighter marks, or what appeared to be highlighter marks, along the line of Action Theater in the diagram.

EDIT: On the left diagram by the way
