  1. I'd personally like to see some more theming on individual rides. Also, it would be nice to bring a unique feel/atmosphere to each individual section of the park. This could be done by landscaping, props, music, etc. Instead of the park just feeling like one big land, it would be nice to return each section to some of it's individuality.

  3. You mean stuff that works briefly then sits broken for years? I think Paramount and Cedar Fair did lots of that.

  4. Maybe Cedar Fair invested in a TARDIS or two.

  5. The one ride that I got sick on during my many years of KI attendance-I mean Winnie Witch's Cauldrens not The Scooby Doo Coaster. . P.S how is everyone doing? I've been kind of hibernating the past few months.

  6. I know KI couldn't do this in the 2013 season but I thought it would be nice to add some pine trees under Diamondback's first drop. That way it would partially cover up the Cavern of terror building a little, provide a more scenery for the railroad, and it would look extremely cool under Diamondback. Just a thought of mine.

  7. Ouimet officially started in January 2012, right? I wouldn't expect that he had much of anything to do with the Soak City retheme. That's mostly/all Kinzel. Replying to the original post: I would say, based on Gold Striker and the small atmosphere changes at KI and several other Cedar Fair parks, that Ouimet will do a little bit of both. Paramount-era theming it is not, but it's more than the concrete-and-trash-cans atmosphere of old management. For what the Cedar Fair parks had become under Kinzel (which wasn't bad--just not my preferred cup of tea), it's enough for me.

  8. Glad to see a Bier Garten in that spot once again. The place didn't have an upbeat vibe, and was mostly a ghostown. That location is valuable and has so much potential Still looking forward to trying Hank's this season after seeing it mentioned on here!

  10. I like how the press release on KI says Dinos Alive allows vistors to "literally" step back in time. I'm pretty sure they mean figuratively, otherwise lines to get into KI are going to be extremel long.

  16. Send Payment, Size, and Address (Or Name if you're going to be there opening day) via paypal to shirts@KICentral.com ! Official Pricing: Small - X Larger - $25.75 shipped 2XL - 3XL - $28.75 shipped **Subtract $6.00 if you're picking up on the 27th!** To get the best price, we are trying to figure out how many people are actually interested. A vote is a reserve for that size. Obviously the more people we get, the cheaper it will be. Just an FYI, 2XL & 3XL shirts will most likely be $3.00 over the other costs. These shirts are silk-screened. As soon as we get a general idea of how many people actually want these, I will be able to provide actual pricing. Rear: On Shirt:

  17. I went to the Reds game last Friday against the Nationals. We went on my aunt's company night, and they had seats under the smokestacks in center field. We sat two rows behind the fence and had a great view of all the homeruns leaving the yard. My family and I got there just as the Reds were about to bat in the bottom of the first. As I walked around, I noticed five new things around the park. 1.) There are two Frisch's Big Boy Concession Stands which looked as if they were pretty successful. 2.) There are three rows of new seats over the visitor's bullpen. 3.) There is a giant neon Budweiser sign in the field concourse. I believe this is a league-wide development, as multiple ballparks like Toronto's Rogers Centre were also sporting the same sign. 4.) There are substantial price rises in many things around the ball park. For example, the Kroger Meal Deal went up from $7 to $9. 5.) The Reds Car Race and Mr. Red's Race have been combined into one. Other than that, it was a chilly but great night for baseball. With the Reds winning 15-0 against a "top" team in the NL, it was great. Plus, Shin Soo Choo threw me the ball he had been tossing to Jay Bruce before the 8th inning. It was my first ball caught. I ended up giving it to my little cousin who was sitting behind me and didn't have a chance to catch it. The Reds will be a top contender for the World Series this year. Choo is a great addition, and if they aren't plagued by injuries, they'll be fine. I will go even as far as to say that Heisey deserves a chance to challenge Ludwick (when he comes back) for the starting role.

  23. In response to whether you can do IB and HW in two days - yes. It's not ideal, but I've done IB, SFGAm and HW over a span of 3 days. We stayed at a campground near IB, so we did IB on day one, Great America on day 2, and then left early in the AM from the campground to go to HW for day 3.

  27. Like Most, I miss that rides/queues were themed. CF is typically pretty plain jane with ride themeing. Paramount was trying to keep up with Universal/Disney in ride themes. If you look at CF's history with rides, they are pretty much the same. Not even Knotts gets $ to compete with their market. They also build copies of rides, IE WindSeeker, Linus Launcher. Taft and Keco were known to duplicate, but always kept themeing up.

  36. I had a random dream about KI the other night. I don't remember much about it, except that Adventure Express had new trains with cars resembling ATVs (sort of like the "motorcycle coasters" that exist, but the entire car looked like the seat from an ATV, complete with handle bars).

  40. Just want to pass along an update, since I drive by Riverdowns on my way into work. They have been quite busy, moving lots of dirt around, and piling it up in what used to be the parking lot in front of the old grandstand. They have been busy pouring foundations, and towards the end of the week, they started forming and pouring concrete columns. I presume these are for the parking garage that is going to be the "basement" of the new facility. They certainly have a ton of construction equipment on site, and aren`t wasting much time.

  42. I think a better way to look at this would be, "What do you miss from the pre-Cedar Fair KI?" Even though I grew up with Paramount's KI, many of the things that I miss weren't contrivances of Paramount. I miss the Kenton's Cove keel boats, The Eagles, Skylab, the Antique Taxis. I miss the characters, the Paramount music, and themes of the rides. For me, Vertigo will also be known as Faceoff, Drop Tower as Drop Zone, Flight Deck as Top Gun. I miss the bridge that the train used to traverse, and the pond that was behind the foliage clock. And who can forget the Paramount Walk of Fame? They had the frickin' Wayne's World car, party on! While we convene on this matters, though, we should probably remember that the youth of today will hold similar memories of today's park, recalling them in nostalgic wonder.

  45. That was the era that I really remember from my childhood at KI so thinking about it makes me very nostalgic. I miss the theming, the music, and the general ambience of the place then, as well as the rides that were there then (plus their original names). I have a lot of amazing memories with family, friends and classmates from that era. But I'm also happy with how certain things have changed since then and the direction the park seems to be moving in, for the most part. It's just nice to reminisce!

  46. I would agree with those words. I was summoned to Jury duty back at the end of November, and I went into it wishing my name had not been selected. But getting placed on a jury and witnessing the judicial process at work was eye opening. I would recommend people serve on jury duty and not try to dodge it. I certainly had a fun time on it, and would gladly serve again if my name is selected.
