  1. Instead of boring you with words, I thought it would be a much more effective way of thanking you all by presenting KIC with a gift. These are some of my best photo creations I ever at took at Kings Island. Enjoy... Link for mobile users: http://s827.photobucket.com/user/DANNY7424/slideshow/Kings%20Island%20photo%20compilation

  2. As I came into the park, first on my to do list was to visit the new mazes of the haunt. First up was Delta Delta Die. The maze was pretty good it had awesome theming to it. I did this one two times in a row during the first part of my night. Next I set off to Board to Death. This maze was even more incredible than Delta Delta Die. It theming was over the top awesome. After revisiting that maze three more times I went to Urgent Scare. I like the elevator effect of the maze they didn't seem to have it working last year. I did that one one more time before moving on. I went to Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror. I waited a good while to get to the actual maze. I happen to saw Ryan Suhr, Dane Thomas, and Jesse Merchbanks(Avatar) while I was waiting in line to enter. Afterwards I decided I wanted to do two Haunt rides on Diamondback. The ride on Diamondback during Haunt was fun except for rain feeling like Machine Gun bullets. Next stop was Holiday Horror. I did that one two times. Carnevil was next on the list. I bought my 3D glasses and went through the maze once. I then walked to Action to next visit Slaughter House. I felt bad for the Scareactors that had to walk around in the puddles in the mazes. Wolf Pack was calling my name and did that one then visiting Club Blood. After all that I checked the time to see what to do now. It was 10:49 I think so I had two hours to spare. I did Wolf Pack, Club Blood & Slaughter House again. I'll tell you the water going through the park from the rain was horrid, the queue line to Club Blood's Stairs were like waterfalls. As I went through Octoberfest toward Adventure Express, there was this puddle that felt like a lake and my feet got real drenched. I then went to ride the Scrambler and went through Delta Delta Die again. I next went to the X-Base for Flight of Fear & Board to Death again. I would've rode Zephyr if the ride wasn't broken when I got on. The rides people said they would get it fixed in about ten minutes but I just wanted to move on to something else. I went through Urgent Scare again. Rode Shake Rattle & Roll and did Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror again. My final attraction of the night was Diamondback in the front seat. The rain hurt even more in the front of course but I took that risk. Overall I had a real fun first night at Haunt 2013 and can't wait for the other nights. I got some Mcdonalds afterwards and went on home.

  4. Coasters are like pizza - they are personal things and to each they're own. You can have thousands upon thousands of "best" lists and they don't mean a da** thing. I know what I enjoy - you know what you enjoy. Go, ride, and be happy.

  5. This crap is quickly becoming reason enough to give up this site for a while. I'm not that convicted in any direction for coaster manufacturers, and the people who persistently are and the people who defend their right to do so are only doing so to be irritating at this point. The epidemic of Son of Beast posts wasn't nearly as annoying. One has to wonder what interest these people have in a fan forum for Kings Island, a park with no Intamin coasters and a management with a clear intent to install no Intamin coaster anytime soon.

  6. Ed Alonzo's show is back with a vengeance! I was pleasantly surprised with how different it was that the regular season's show. I was under the impression that the show would be exactly the same, but just turned up a notch for Haunt. The majority of the show was totally new, with a few tricks and gags borrowed from the last show. This show is definitely a must see. I laughed 'till I cried. Of course, you must be warned that this show is quite a bit more adult oriented. Skimpy costumes, foul language, and sexual connotations. Ain't Haunt grand?

  7. The summer may be done, but the fun's not over yet! As the school goes back and session and the leaves fall from the trees, Kings Island transforms from a traditional Cincinnati getaway into a maniac mansion full of killer clowns, ghouls, monsters and much more! New for 2013! Board to Death - See your favorite board games come to life and this time, they hold all of the cards! This fun and innovative maze features scenes dedicated to games such as Monopoly, Battleship, Mouse Trap, and many more! Delta Delta Die - Everyone knows that the best parties are held by sororities, and you're the life of the party this time! Delta Delta Die is a sorority party gone awry and everyone is dying to get in.... but the hard part is making it out alive! Ed Alonzo's Psych Circus of Magic and Mayhem Pt 2 (Haunt Edition) - Ed Alonzo from TV's "Saved by the Bell" has become a staple at Kings Island in recent years, and his Psycho CIrcus Train is headed your way yet again! Nothing and nobody is off limits when it comes to Halloween Haunt and we finally get to see how Ed REALLY feels as he lets loose on the audience. With many new tricks and Ed's signature brand of humor, this is a must see for Haunt 2013!! Also returning are such favorites as Club Blood, Slaughter House, "Graveyard Shift," CornSTALKers, and the legendary "Hot Blooded!" 10. Roller coaster quality is so subjective, any time a definitive list of "the best" is made, it's bound to be flawed. I leave it at what my favourites are.

  14. I was thinking the same exact thing... EDIT: Seems like an optical illusion. I drew a line from the base of the "first" lift hill track piece, lined it up, and kept going with it and this is the result: Looks like B&M actually knows what they are doing.

  16. I know I'm in the minority with my opinion, but I have never been able to understand why people want to glorify blood, mutilation, torture, death, etc. I've heard all the arguments - it's not real, it's all in good fun, it's make believe, I like a good scare, etc. However, I've never been to a "Haunt" at KI and don't really have a desire too. It's just not my thing. And looking through these pics, it just reaffirms my choice. Some of the things on display here just made me sick. Tortured and mutilated bodies laying around, people feasting on blood and mutilated bodies, etc. I just couldn't bring myself to participate in such a display. I love fall and love the festivities of Halloween, that's why I come to the family friendly version during the day. We see acts of evil and violence on the news everyday and we're just appalled by it. Such a horror and a brutal act if inhumanity. We sit at our television sets just shocked and wonder how could such an act of violence be displayed? Then a few hours later, we pay good money to view some of these very same acts on display at a "theme park" or "attraction" and we shrug it off because it's "make believe". It just confuses me. I don't want any part of any violent or inhumane display whether it be real or staged. This is just the way I feel and have always felt. In a world where evil is already so prevalent, I just can't bring myself to submit to it and honor it like some do around this time of year every year. I want to end this post by saying that I'm not trying to judge anyone. I know lots of people who go to these types of events and don't think twice about it. If you truly have a good time and this type of display doesn't bother you then that's fine. This is, and has always been, a personal viewpoint of mine and this is all just my opinion. I just wanted to offer some of my thoughts to you all on this board. Please don't take offense to anything of I have said.

  18. Uh-Oh. It's a industry poll. TIME magazine has attempted to rate the USA's Top 10 roller coasters. However, instead of just having a fan vote or picking the author's personal favorites, they have instead tried to come up with a formula to rate the country's best roller coasters...and here is their Top 10 list. Well, it's pretty flawed, but worth a look I guess. http://techland.time.com/2013/09/19/the-top-10-roller-coasters-in-the-u-s/ And there's more, they also rated tons of other coasters...the full page, with search, can be found here: http://roller-coasters.findthebest.com/ PERSONAL OPINION While this has potential, and could work, there are big flaws- first up, using the biased Amusement Today poll alone is going to heavily skew the results. I'd add more polls (noteably the Mitch Hawker poll for example, others as well, getting more info will give a better view on how people actually view these coasters) and try to get a decent sample of user ratings for each coaster as well, to try and get a less biased opinion on these rides. Also, while they do try and keep stats being important down, it still seems too strong...Mean Streak at Cedar Point has an 87 rating, which on the 0-100 scale makes it a B or B+ coaster. Now, I have yet to get to Cedar Point myself, but most reviews I've heard from people who HAVE ridden Mean Streak make it out to be far worse than a "B" coaster...I'd bet this 87 rating is largely due to the fact that at 161' tall, 65mph, and over 5400' long Mean Streak has great stats for a wooden coaster. Son of Beast probably would have at least cracked 90+, based on its stats alone...and we know how most people viewed that coaster. Roller Coaster @ NYNY Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is also rated at an 88...and from what I've heard about that ride, that is WWWAAAYYYY too high. Now, the search feature on the site is actually pretty cool. You can compare different coasters, look for coasters close to a certain city or town, compare coaster types, etc etc. They also have some nice pictures. Hopefully, the ratings system can get fixed to better reflect the actual opinions on these coasters, which could make this site very useful. Oh, and for those who don't want to bother to visit the page but want to know how Kings Island's coasters were rated...you can probably get an idea on how the ratings are flawed from this alone: The Beast- 97 Diamondback- 97 Vortex- 88 Firehawk- 86 Flight of Fear- 85 Invertigo- 81 Racer- 70 Flight Deck- 69 Adventure Express- 67 Backlot Stunt Coaster- 55 Flying Ace Aerial Chase- 54 Woodstock Express- 52 Comments welcome. Questions also.

  19. Typical symptoms of B&Mitis are rational thoughts and cohesive arguments that take into account all of the facts about both manufacturers. Typical symptoms of Intaminitis are blind arguments based on only one small aspect of the manufacturers, failing to consider (or outright ignoring) much more important facts, and refusal to listen to reason. You tell me which one a person is more likely to find annoying and thus which one more people will complain about. Some people must have more severe cases than others. I'm sick of people ON BOTH SIDES failing to even acknowledge what the other side is saying and blindly making ignorant statements while trying to justify themselves and their preferences. I'll leave it at that and head for the door on this topic.

  22. ^ This isn't google! Not seeing how that is relevant to the topic. On topic: I heard a ride op on Cedar Downs that I had to have my feet on the very top foot placement thing (can't think of the name) in order to ride. I said that wouldn't provide a comfortable ride as, I'm a bit tall and my knees would be in my face, as I showed her the example. She then told me that it'd be okay to put them on the middle one. lol.

  23. Where is the B&Mitis thread? I see just as much B&M talk as INTAMIN talk. And, quite frankly, I think more people on here have B&Mitis than INTAMINitis.

  25. I have an idea. Let's take all the Intamin vs. B&M discussion, and push it over here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27897-intamin-or-b-m/ Honestly, as much I love a good, heated argument about manufactural preference, I think we really should try to be more responsible in where and when to argue about it. EDIT: This thread is also appropriate!

  30. Seems to have infected darn near every forum topic. Seems to me those who ONLY want to discuss INTAMIN need their own forii, or at least a category here. Then, unless it is DIRECTLY relevant, the INTAMIN chatter would not be tolerated elsewhere. I remember back when very, very few people here knew much or cared much about steel coaster manufacturers. I suspect most here still don't.

  32. Hard to judge my feelings until I go when it's not a constant down poor of rain all night for the most part. The natural fog effect all over the park was pretty sweet, especially riding Beast and DB. Many scare actors and guests were not there because of the weather. We walked on every ride we rode tonight until the rain beating our face had become to much. I will wait for a better night to rate the haunts.

  33. I agree, Coney Mall should resemble the old Coney Island in it's glory years. The Racer should be painted with red track and blue rails again, giving it a patriotic scheme, buildings and signs should be painted and given a colorful look to them, the Ginkgo trees should be maintained and trimmed down to the old shape, and also I think a small fountain should be built in the center of the mall to resemble the old European fountain built under the Skyride at Coney Island: (I do not own this photo, found off of Google) Ride wise, that area of the park needs more flats again. As I mentioned in the "If you owned Kings Island," thread, I would rip out the Additudes store and put the Cuddle Up back in that spot, because I personally think that not every area needs a gift shop or store. I don't know how popular the 3 point challenge game near the Happy Days (Jukebox) Diner is, but that spot should be the home for new flyers, a classic from old Coney. As a park enthusiast, I agree that removing the Antique Cars was a bad move made by the park. I think the park should really consider retiring the Italian Job ride and put an antique car ride back in that spot, to bring the Coney Island feeling back. Though the original car ride was built by Arrow Dynamics (Now defunct), I think a company called Gould Manufacturing is still in buisness, building rides like that. I agree with your opinion that the park should restore theming to the areas of the park. That's how I would do it.

  44. My daughter and I got there at 6:05(still chewing my Jack in the Box burger) and we were both soaked by the time we reached the gate, even though we had our Disneyworld ponchos on. 6:15 -We went through Delta Delta Die(no line at all) - The only change from Massacre Mansion was paint and the addition of empty beer cans, to make it look like a college party. Since this is my favorite kind of haunt(traditional haunted house), I gave it a 7. Couple of good gags. 6:25 - Short walk to Board to Death in X-Base(old Mysteria) It may be worse than Mysteria, which I liked BTW. 4 on the Haunted House scale. 6:35 - Slaughterhouse no wait- Same old reliable Slaughterhouse. Fun, solid 8 6:45 - Festhouse for Graveyard Shift 7:00 show - New cast, first night. Should get better... 7:30 - Ed Alonzo - Way raunchier than regular season show, and a lot funnier. Some of the same gags, some new. 8:05 - CarnEvil 5 minute wait - Fun, no big changes I give it a 7. Rain tapers off. No scareactors in Nightmare Alley 8:15 Holiday Horror no wait - good maze, miss the real Leprechaun they had in there. 8:30 - Madame Fatales 35 minute wait - Not worth it. Lots of detail, but no big scares. 4 9:10 - Heard Hot blooded was starting in 30 minutes over the PA. Beast was a walk on. I thought we could get a night ride in and walk through Backwoods Bayou and make it to the show. Train 2 car 3 middle seat, great ride. Left Beast and Backwoods is closed off. Why would they close down a scare zone? I realize we'll never make it if we have to walk all the way around, so we get some fries at Rivertown potatoworks. While we were eating I hear an announcement for Blood Drums at 10 in Action Zone. ???It's by the tower this year, lol Blood Drums was one of our favorite shows last yer, so we made our way over there. No show, and Hot Blooded wasn't playing either. So the pa announcements must have been running on a loop, and they had last years on there to boot! Oh well. It had started raining again so we were going to do Wolf Pack and Club Blood and call it a night. Wolf Pack was lame as usual, but my daughter likes it so it was fine. Except for the part where she got her hair caught in the button of a flannel shirt hanging on a clothesline. It was kind of funny and she didn't lose much hair so it wasn't a total loss. But, we called it quits after that. Left at 10:30 The rain had picked up 6 mazes, 2 shows and 1 ride in 4 hours...not to shabby. Hopefully it doesn't rain next Friday

  46. DB pulls more G forces than MF...just saying, I prefer MF, but that's just because I enjoy the speed and height of that ride... I could not raise my arms on the pullout of mf's first drop after drinking a case of beer in the october cold. I think I could hold my breath the whole time on db and still be able to hold my arms up.
