  2. The music alone would make a huge difference to me. I miss the epic music as you first walked in and saw the fountains!

  3. Wow that is brutal. This is a very good offer from ASA. I sort of hope this may be the beginning of some sort of reconciliation. I say that because maybe if a couple of people bring this to HW's attention (HW may or may not be aware of this offer since they just announced it) they may feel some sort of internal pressure to open their doors as well. I hope it does. I honestly hate that this whole situation has happened.

  4. I agree music fit to the areas in general would go a long way to enhance theming. I think the general looks for everywhere are good for theming but music would jsut push it over. The only spots that don't look fit to themes is Action Zone (it doesn't seem to know hat it wants to be right now.) and The Crypt entrance. Think this could easily be fixed with giving the building a mine theme for whatever attraction make take up residence here in the future. Never really understod the Asian flair inteh middle of Rivertown, though I did love TR:TR. BLSC is kind of on it's own so don't think it is hurting an area but could be themed to fit in with either Coneymall or Rivertown better. Thought IJST would have fit great in teh old Action Zone since both were themed to movie lots at the time. But change it to a steeplechase-esque feel for Coney Mall or a Maverik-esque feel for Rivertown.

  5. Ideally you should feel unsafe, but at the same time be entirely safe.

  6. Familiarity breeds Contempt. You can only ride the same thing so many times before it becomes a bore. My last couple trips to KI were just not the same as a couple years ago. I could never be like Mr.Coleman and others that take thousands of rides on something.

  7. I think he's referring to the video...it's well done, but I mean c'mon, it's pretty cheesy. Cheesy it may be but those people were all volunteers- they did not have to do it. They wanted to! it was fun making it, regardlesss of whether you think it was well done or not. That was a lot of people getting out of their comfort zones to try and inspire others to join them. I know I sound like a broken record (but hey, recruiting was part of my job ) but it really can be fun working there. Im not going to get into the specifics, but things like this video made associates excited to be a part of something larger than themselves. Besides the video, there are NUMEROUS other perks and incentives and celebrations involved in being an employee.

  8. Sunday morning I woke Princess Sparkles up by asking her if she wanted to go to Dollywood. I have never seen her get ready faster in her life. We had not been to Dollywood since 2010. It was a very overdue trip to say the least. Dollywood is one of my favorite parks. It's beautiful and the customer service is always excellent. Back in 2010, she was so cute and sweet. 2015, still cute, sweet is pushing it a bit. On a serious note, she's a great kid. The first ride we rode was Thunderhead. I guess since it had been so long since riding it, I forgot how much I really enjoy this coaster. It found it smoother than the last time we were there. Taken from the train: Our next ride was Mystery Mine. Mystery Mine is one of my favorite coasters. The 2nd hill / drop is one of my favorite parts on any coaster. I can say one very strange things that happened is getting a text from a KICer bragging about being at Dollywood when you, yourself, are standing in line at Dollywood. Next we rode Wild Eagle. I was not sure what I would think about this ride. It's similar to Gatekeeper, but smaller and in my opinion a superior coaster over Gatekeeper. We rode it 5 or 6 times. The crew for Wild Eagle is nothing shy of phenomenal. We rode FireChaser next. While I can say this one is not an exciting coaster to me, it is a wonderful family ride. I love how they repurposed the props from Adventure Mountain. Tennessee Tornado is my least favorite ride at Dollywood. I absolutely hate the restraints. The main reason I usually do not like coasters is typically because of the restraints that are like Vortex at Kings Island. I do love the theming of the ride. After the park closed, we met up with friends that moved to Gatlinburg several years ago. It was great getting to see them. For this to be an impromptu trip, we had a lot of fun.

  9. Yes! It's such a treat to have been with my oldest nephew for all of his first rides at KI. His reaction during and his expression after were such a treat. His eyes couldn't have been bigger after his first ride on Drop Tower. His first ride on Banshee in the fall? I had one ecstatic kid! I'm looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd rounds of "firsts" with the youngest nephew and niece. The one is fearless and the other is going to need some coaxing and nonchalant attitude about how awesome a ride is. Just a few more inches and game on!

  14. 1. Just an observation, but there used to be a ride called "Halley's Comet" toward that end of the park (pre-expansion). Perhaps coincidentally, as KI Guy pointed out above, the band Bill Haley & His Comets had released a popular cover of the 1954 Big Joe Turner hit "Shake, Rattle & Roll" those many years before Kings Island was built. (Nostalgia for the 1950s was waxing during the early 1970s in pop culture and other parts of society). 2. I'd rather have that any version of that song stuck in my head, than the Osmond Brothers' "One Bad Apple (Don't Spoil The Whole Bunch, Girl)." Not that the latter was a particularly bad song; it's just not as hip as the former, in my opinion. 3. The red-and-white color scheme is much more vibrant than the earth tones of the pre-refurbished SR&R. 4. The Huss Troika Spins, Lifts and Tilts. If it lived up to its name, I suppose it'd be time for another overhaul!

  15. Kings Island on Facebook : "Do you "Like" the new Shake, Rattle & Roll entrance sign?" Photo : Don Helbig / Kings Island via Facebook On a related side note..... It also looks as if the nearby neighbor has been doing some testing...... It has to be either that or maybe.....Just maybe.....Vortex is wondering if his grip was so tight that it started to turn his buddy red after all these years?.... "Once The Vortex gets you in his grip, you're his forever!"

  16. I know this may sound picky, but there's something in me that's going to miss the archways of the Coney flat rides. I loved walking into the queue lines and walking under the name of the attraction. Shake, Rattle, & Roll was one of the rides that included that type of ID sign. Now I believe the only rides that have ID sign archways are Zephyr and Scrambler.

  17. When I was still too young to die, I used to ride with UH1N Iroquois pilots who would "practice" mountainside RTT ("Return-To-Target") maneuvers in between convoys out in Montana (whether I liked it or not). Lots and lots of times. I learned to like it, and enjoyed the thrill. Yet I still enjoy the thrill of roller coasters, mostly because I don't have the element of fear of rotor blades coming off as the vehicle starts heading back uphill! What's fun about them nowadays, is the endless possibility of that one or two "first-time-ever" riders, and their never-the-same-twice reactions that are forever entertaining.

  18. Some of us have done more than watched videos of the two rides. They are not clones.

  19. FINALLY. These are welcomed changes. This app sorta reminds me of the Busch Gardens app but not quite up to that caliber. Something I noticed is that in the Apple App Store the developer is no longer listed as "Accesso" but rather Cedar Fair, as is done with most other companies like Disney Parks and SeaWorld Entertainment. I love the quick tidbits of info on the left side of the individual ride pages that tell you thrill rating, height requirement, and ride duration. Some errors to note: (I'm sure there may be more) PEANUTS Playhouse is still listed on the map as a performance area. Snoopy's Splash Dance is still listed in the Rider Safety Guide As people above mentioned, Carowinds is creeping in to our Fast Lane These errors are understandable as this is a new, updated version of the app; hopefully Accesso can fix them soon! Again, I applaud Kings Island and Cedar Fair. This new app is a breath of fresh air.

  20. The only thing left dudes is jumping out of an aeroplane without a chute and letting some pink newby with a parachute try and catch me in their free fall. I'm out of options at this point. The thrill is done.

  26. I just hope that the concrete right in front of the Marketplace is not black (new) Asphalt, because of the way it looks. It also looks like they tore up that ugly black tar path in front of the sign down that pathway.

  27. I know I'm not going, but I have had multiple bad experiences at LongHorn in terms of food quality. The service was excellent every time, but the food was either really good or not good at all. And it is pretty expensive if you're a baller on a budget. Just trying to be helpful!

  28. It shouldn't be too hard of a task to restore the old theming in the areas. International Street shops just need appropriate names to match the architecture, flags on the buildings, and epic gate music like at Kings Dominion. Coney Mall could just use a new flat.

  30. It appears the article messed up the details on Thunderbird's entry; it's Holiday World's 4th (major) coaster, not it's third (they forgot about The Legend).

  32. I'll put it this way BB1- the Hartland will need much more than claiming a 'flagship ride' (which, I've read and heard nothing but awful reviews of T2) to save its skin. To me, T3 is being 'added' out of convenience if anything.

  35. Thrill rides suck so much anymore that the only time I feel a little unsafe is getting on a high cliff and see how far I can thrust my torso forward before falling off. Its been wild how many times I had to grab the cliff edge man. Thought I bit it.

  38. I am going to guess I will ride The Beast most. It has been that way for years, but with Princess Sparkles being on that crew, I may hang out with the big kids elsewhere in the park.

  39. Princess Sparkles and I are going. I am not sure what time i am going to be off from work tomorrow, so we might not be there until 6:30 since I will have to get her before heading that way. O'Charley's sounds good to me.

  40. O'Charley's has more options and seems more budget friendly, so let's meet there. I'm telling them 6:00pm so that we don't have to be in a hurry. They have a call-ahead seating arrangement instead of taking true reservations, so I'll call back tomorrow afternoon to get us on the list. If anyone else is coming, make sure to let me know by then so that we get a table large enough for everyone. Weather permitting (i.e. no lightning), I'm planning to head down early for a jog at nearby VoA Park. I'll then get to the restaurant by 5:45pm to make sure that they're ready for us.

  41. Whether they had decided to draw attention to it or not, guests were doing so. Guests were asking about it so the park responded by confirming it would return the following season. People were already talking about the ride and clearly interested in it, so what a perfect candidate for some extra TLC.

  43. Anything's fine with me. Like I said before, the only places on my boycott list are Steak 'n' Shake (and Chik-Fil-A which I forgot to mention before). O'Charley's worked their way off the list a few years ago, so they're in good standing now.

  47. Technically, the whole idea of a roller coaster is to make you feel unsafe without actually being unsafe. If your body realizes that it's safe, then it's not going to thrill you, since there's no need for adrenaline to flow through your body. That said, you are much safer on almost any roller coaster than you are in a car, in a train, in a plane, or even walking.
