  1. This is what it is. Quite frankly put, we are a largely self moderated community. Yes we have moderators; they rarely have to intervene. The park, that we all love, has asked that all content is linked to it's source, unless of course it is your own. This hearkens back to the simple act of capitalization for branded entities. It's not hard to quote a source, or hit a shift key when needed. We have a coexistence with this park, and whether we agree or disagree with what they ask, in the end, it is in all of our best interest to comply to the best of our ability.

  3. After all, that's where I found everything I used. bkroz, who's seen it before at the end of undergraduate presentations. You would hate me as a teacher. I never let my students use Wikipedia or any other source that could be changed by anyone. It had to be credible sources such as reviewed journal articles, professionals' websites, etc. Using Google instead of telling me where the resources had come from would have gotten you a zero for failure to cite sources. If I ever did anything like this with my high school freshmen, I'd be a lot more forgiving, but when I taught my college classes, I did not mess around with expectations. ...I'm not hard to get along with though. I'm really not. I promise.

  5. Each is a new screengrab and a new post. Someone might not see the older post before seeing the new one. Anyways to get back on topic... https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/718134572135936001 Looks lovely.

  6. And if you have to pay to see the referenced images and said user posted them for free for all to see, that is also a big no no. Posts with offending images will magically no longer exist.

  8. Well I guess I'm off on days again. [emoji14] Correct me if I'm wrong on this one as well. The temperatures are dramatically dropping and that's not normal for this time of year. Burr!! We're talking about temperatures in the 40s. But hey, here's a warm thought; Kings Island opens in 8 days!! Who's excited? (Edit made by me. Original picture: https://instagram.com/p/BD1W2HLuOD_/)

  10. CoasterOhio, You MUST include links to the source of the images that you are posting. I suggest you edit your posts to include the links. Those images were not taken by you, so you must give credit by linking to the original source. If you worked hard on something and saw your work show up on another site without crediting you, wouldn`t you be mad? Please edit your posts to include links.

  11. I have always thought Kings Island deserves a more grand entrance than it currently has - not the front gate entrance, but the traffic entrance. As of now, Kings Island Dr. is extremely boring and bland (but they're working on it). The whole area really is just lackluster of any "magic". Driving to Kings Island isn't that exciting, in my opinion. A sign up front there will definitely add to it. But it won't be complete until all of Kings Island Dr. has been finished and the area comes together perfectly.

  13. Okay to the people asking for a link to the photos. It's very similar to Bing Maps or Google Maps. They are screen grabs of their satelite images, and I believe you have to pay to use them, in case someone wants to try them out. We never get on anyone for posting Google or Bing satelite images, do we? I'm confused. Is it because he's cropped in and then not showing their watermark? Ok, say that. But when I and many, many other people post Google and Bing map screenshots, no one says anything. Calakapepe- Thoroughly confused.

  14. Apparently there are surprises yet to come which will likewise be determined by fans using "various surveys and means of participation." The continued emphasis on joining the battle between the citizens of New France and the invading Vikings (via the website, the video below, and the name option Battle Klash) give the impression that A) this is a dual track dueling / racing wooden coaster (which wouldn't be unheard of given their sister park had Gwazi by the same manufacturer, though the few CGI still photos released don't show it as such) or B ) virtual reality will be used with the option to somehow select if you're a Viking or a townsperson. Thing is, VR + wooden coaster doesn't sound right to me... Well, the park promises more information and more fan choices to come so we'll see... EDIT: Interestingly enough, in the news this week: a previously undiscovered Viking settlement may have been found in Canada by means of space archaeology... it's a thing! Read here.

Usually, they didn't seem to notice or care. Source: google.com. Unbelievable! While I understand the point, that was one of the stranger decisions, I think... I don't know. Is it unpatriotic to say that the flag should be off to the side so we can get better views of the French icon? Maybe.

  16. Back in 1973 until 1994, the Carowinds Monorail ran along side the Interstate. In 1975, Carowinds Corp sold the park but it didn't include the land next to the interstate directly under the monorail tracks. That land came warehouses and a mall. http://www.carowindsearlyyears.com/monorailpath.jpgPlus Carowinds was supposed to have a Hotel, Sports Complex, Marina. It would have been the Cedar Point of the Carolina for comparison, but with the park being closer to Disneyland than CP. http://www.carowindsearlyyears.com/caro_center.html As you can 3/4 of the way through the first season plans were announced that would have resulted in the Carowinds sign having to be moved, probably why they didn't build a tall sign for the park, knowing that a tall sign would cost more to build then move. The current sign is also the park's original sign with a few modifications.

  18. I will say that something Kentucky Kingdom does and does it well is landscaping. Those people work very hard year round to keep that place looking nice. They added some much needed life back at Mile High Falls and I have full confidence they will work their magic on Storm Chaser too, just give them time

  23. Thanks! I tried not to post any of the photos where the faces are too obvious, but they probably are very familiar. I'll keep names and, as applicable, usernames out of it though. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for the KI offseason. Not a moment too soon! See you in line.

  28. Hmmm, Interesting. Nearmap is a site that has the latest in satelite images. Their latest image of Kings Island was March 18th 2016 and I found an interesting piece of candy What are they doing to the sign? Also.. Overview of the new tolls ANND! The overview of the new Rivertown updates. As well, when I looked around the park for anything else I could possibly find, I found this. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but I think there is something new here. Specifically on the bottom left corner right next to the Eiffel Tower image. --- There is a lot going on that we previously didn't know about...

  32. If anyone would like to watch the video I made in honor of The Beast, here's the link. There are a few imperfections I noticed after the upload, and for some reason in saving, the words and lips don't quite match up for the couple places with dialogue. I'm certainly not re-doing it. It took about 4 hours to save and 2 to upload. Enjoy.

  37. Well at least they understand that guest satisfaction is No. 1 priority, and they comped your meals. I would be really concerned if they incorrectly told you the policies and didn't give you compensation for those meals. oh, and hopefully this year the lines will move faster....

  41. Problem is with Kings Island at least they have no clue what the polices even are. When I got my dining pass this year for last year they said i could use it for my free 2015 visit. We used it actually at two places without problem. The card didnt scan but they cashier said not worry about. When I went to get dinner at Reds Hall of Fame they said we couldn't use it yet even though we used it previsously. After explaining our situation the manager comped our meal anyway even though he wasn't supposed to.

  44. The actual reasons that belts are typically removed before going through a scanner haven't been listed here. The same reasons that watches, coins, phones, etc., are. Metal detectors do best at finding unexpected metal when other metal doesn't interfere. And the removed items can be (but often aren't) inspected more closely. The level of security at, say, NJFTP, is usually far higher than, say, Holiday World. Had to take the belt off one of two times? Unexpected security actions. Not routine each time. Random. Yet, attackers like soft targets. Only metal detect on special events. Fine, they pick June 17. The best security is both visible and not. The attacker needs only one lapse. I feel far safer in most "sketchy" parks than I do at cultural iconic areas that are cherished celebrations of America. I fear the day that a park suffers a major attack. And whether or not a guest has to remove a belt will not be even a tiny factor going forward. Parks? Admissions? In some places, malls, stadiums... Too much said already...I'm out of this one, for now.

  45. It's good to see the good-hearted ones offering thoughts and prayers, rather than throwing juvenile, tasteless quips. May the employee's family and friends find comfort in this time of loss.

  46. The poor man. My heart aches for his family, friends, and coworkers. I've had to stop reading comments on a lot of stories, especially ones where someone has died. The heartless comments are infuriating to me. There is so little compassion. It is one thing to have a morbid sense of humor for situations that deal directly with you...but for someone you don't know? That person had people that loved them and who are now grieving. It's just not necessary.

  47. And to be clear, he didn't really die on a Haunted Mansion attraction. The ride, to our current understanding, didn't specifically have anything to do with it. He was apparently working on lighting backstage and might've been electrocuted. People have died on Disney attractions before – typically due to rider error, recklessness, or unknown pre-existing conditions – but it seems in this case that it was a freak accident not at all related to the ride's operation. Made all the more tragic by the kind of ride it is – a haunted house.
