  2. So a removed coaster shouldn't be replaced with a pendulum ride? Looking at you Kings Dominion! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Why look that far, KI did it too with King Cobra to Delirium.

  3. With every new construction picture of this ride, I grow more and more excited. I love Thunderhead at Dollywood, and can`t wait to have a GCI right in my backyard. For those who have not experienced a GCI, you are in for a treat. While it may not be the biggest, tallest, fastest or meanest ride, it will be loads of fun, which is what roller coasters are supposed to be!

  4. Not 50%, Maybe 15 to 25% at best To give an example, look at the DB webcam, everything after the WWC lagoon, and the Shed/Station area hasn't been built yet.

  5. I like having a family launch coaster, I'd try to put something similar there still that is just better themed to the areas. Think a Steeplechase type would be cool. Having horses you ride would give a different experience and would fit into the classic Coney area as well as Rivertown a bit with the horse theme. Think the area around it, if it took up a similar footprint to BLSC, as well as the land next to DB's turnaround could be filled in with some classic flat rides, like teacups and Tilt-A-Whirls, and more trees.

  6. Flooding is a fact of life at Coney. There were wooden coasters at Coney back in its heyday, and they managed just fine, despite the floods. I`ve heard some things about what might be in store for 2017. I won`t say too much, but will say that not every improvement that parks get come in the form of a shiny new attraction.

  7. Thanks for the update everyone. I'm so anxious for this ride that I've been having dreams about it.

  12. I wholeheartedly agree about Backlot's unfortunate placement, but it's a fun ride that seems unlikely to leave anytime soon. For reference, we have other threads for speculating on which rides will be removed & when. Here's the most recent: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/32121-which-ride-will-leave-next/

  13. Wanted to point out, that several coaster clubs got an email today from Tony Clark at CP to share with their members... I hope that none of us here at KIC are silly enough to visit CP while it's closed. But a friendly reminder, please don't do anything to harm the reputation of KIC, GOCC, ACE, Coaster Crew, etc. We'll all know and see it soon enough!

  14. SFOG's woodie was designed with backwater flooding in mind. Coney of Ohio, is, however, subject to riverine flooding, which could be higher velocity, and cause far more damage.

  15. I've sometimes thought to myself "Which ride will not make it in the next 5-10 years" Since I can't think of what ride could be next on the chopping block I would like to know "Which ride do you think KI will retire in the next 5-10 years."

  16. What about a splash battle on the river town side and a couple classic flats on the coney mall side? Its been a long time since a new water ride was added and this would certainly be family friendly.

  17. I just had a dream last night where I was with a group at Kings Island on a special offseason tour. We were walking on the path between Diamondback and Backlot Stunt Coaster, and I clearly remember prancing down the path with widespread arms, clearly out of the joy of once again being surrounded by rides. The sky was cloudy and it was cold, clearly giving away the time of year. I look toward Vortex and, lo and behold, it was operating WITH RIDERS! We walk behind Vortex where all the associates working the ride were gathered in a fenced area. I asked one of them why Vortex was open, and he responded saying that today they were opening the park at 6 p.m. for the community to enjoy for one day. I looked at a nearby clock, which showed a time after 6, and thought "I don't want to miss my family dinner..." (my family is actually having a big dinner tonight ) but I decided to stay to ride. I noticed Vortex's queue was mirrored, as the riders were queuing and boarding from the left side of the train instead of the right side like in real life. I think this dream had to do with a post from Six Flags Great Adventure that I saw on Instagram about their "Holiday in the Park" event, as well as seeing a post here about Dollywood's "Smoky Mountain Christmas" event. I bet going to a park in the winter would be fun! 2016-2017 Vortex Dreams: 2

  18. Exactly that! This Kings park did the "downgrade" first, and as someone who has ridden Delirium at KD, I can and will say the Mondial version is a whole lot better. Though not as tall, it spins and swings MUCH faster, and really has some great laterals. I admit I was cheesed off when I head they were dropping Shockwave, and yes I would have liked to see it stay, but facts are facts. In regards to BLSC, in this hypothetical case, if it were removed Id enjoy seeing them either A)build onto the existing enclosure and create a large and immersive dark ride or B)install a well landscaped (yeah yeah, I know, thats a pipe dream with CF) area with three classic flats like purdude said including a tilt-a-whirl, tea cups that can be independently spun by the rider, and one other.

  20. D-amn right we honor other Trades lines. When I was in the IBEW and pulled up to a jobsite that another Trade had a line set up, I parked, called the Foreman or GF for my Contractor and said Im at the gate, not coming in. Even though most all Locals in the IBEW operate under CIR (No strike clause) you can bet we honor all other Trades lines. Furthermore, any "journalism" in the Sandusky Rag will almost always and certainly be written in a manner that will shine a light on Cedar Point, much like the GOCC FB page is right now. They know what side their bread is buttered on, and wont rattle that dogs cage, I can promise you that.

  21. I haven`t heard anything about next year yet. Stay tuned...

  22. I know that was last year. We got about 9 inches of water in the rides office from that flood. I could see Coney getting a wooden coaster again. I could see more along the lines of Voyage with a steel structure to support the wooden track.

  23. I haven`t heard any rumblings yet about what could be new for 2017. With the big addition this year at Sunlite Adventure, hopefully the rides side will get something new. Only time will tell. If I hear anything that I can talk about, I will certainly let you know.

  24. A nice family woodie is what I would like to see. A dark ride and keep growing but stay as a family friendly park.

  27. I don't see skyflyer leaving anytime soon, as it's still a big money maker for the park. Although if they're planning something in there area of Action Zone in the future then maybe.

  30. Boo Blasters always seems to have a pretty long line, so popularity wise I'm not sure I'd agree with that. But yeah, the theme and ride itself is pretty bad. Vortex for me, while it is rough, the main problem is the harness just kills me shoulders. I don't mind a jerky ride but that harness set up, for me, hasn't aged well at all. I'd be sad to see it go though.

  31. Invertigo is a fun ride (personally I hate looking down and waiting for the drop, just worries me for some reason), but if the wait is more than 30 mins it's not 100% worth it to me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. Id like to see Invertigo stay. One of the first things noticed on arrival. I know ive said this lots, but Vortex is rough for me, even compared to AE. Havent ridden Boo Blasters so idk about that one. And I think they should keep BLSC. Great ride, and I dont know about the blackouts others have mentioned. Sent from my N9130 using Tapatalk

  35. I keep forgetting about Invertigo... I'm not considering the cost to keep Vortex running as very high, just the cost vs value it adds may be leaning against keeping it vs adding something with more appeal/draw.

  36. The most likely rides to be removed in my opinion are Xtreme Skyflyer, and Invertigo. I think of the two the skyflyer is more likely. But I would also not be surprised to see Invertigo moved to a smaller park. I think people are overestimating the costs of keeping Vortex running. Boo Blasters I could see replaced.

  37. I think Dodge'Em should be taken out and replaced with well-landscaped green space.

  38. I should have said that I don't want Vortex to go, it just seems as far as coasters go it's the most likely candidate to me. I didn't get to ride Boo when it was fully functional, was 2yrs ago I rode it. Boo is probably the next ride to go, . I'd like to see something go in there to better tie it in with Planet Snoopy, I think. For a more general (non-kid-focused) dark ride, I think the TRTR building needs to have a use...maybe one of the dark rides CF mentioned putting in a slew of?

  39. Wouldn't want to see any of the coasters leave but depending on maintainence and stuff I could see Vortex as others mentioned and potentially The Bat too. Suspended coasters like it seem to be a dying breed and keep getting removed, also not sure it's exact numbers but it rarely seems to have much of a line and even on busy days it can be nearly a walk on. Agree too that Boo Blasters is probably the surest bet for a ride to leave, however I'm not sure if it will just get another re-theme or be something completely new. Personally I'd still rather them turn it into a Peanuts themed dark ride and build a new dark ride more like Voyage to the Iron Reef elsewhere. Either utilizing the old Crypt building or the Action Theater.

  41. I love Vortex, but mainly for nostalgia purposes. I remember my first visit after it opened, I was just so happy to see something done with the space where the original Bat was, then to have that ride? For it's time, it was amazing. As much as I enjoy other rides more, I still make a point to ride it at least once on every visit. I'll be sad when it goes, but I think that's sooner rather than later. For the team gig folks...that would be a good spot, assuming there's enough real estate toward/beyond WindSeeker (or whatever that gigantic thing is called).

  42. I would say Boo Blasters, it's just almost not worth riding anymore. I don't see any coasters being removed anytime soon.

  43. I think Vortex is probably the most likely in the next 10 years but if I had to choose one to go it would be Back Lot Stunt Coaster. The only part about that ride I enjoy at all is the 5 second tunnel at the end.

  44. I wouldn't be sad if they lost Stunt Track. What I'd love to see is a way to connect X-Base to the rest of the park so that it's not a dead end. Perhaps they will relocate some of the maintenance sheds behind racer and connect to the end of Coney Mall near WindSeeker and Dinosaurs.
