  1. Thanks guys for the Advice. I Asked the bigger friend if he liked coaster and he said he LOVES them. He did jokingly admit that he can't fit on some rides but he said he set a goal to lose some weight so. When April comes maybe he is able to ride more rides. Thanks for the Advice everyone.

  2. As those mentioned. As long as ridership is there and proper maintenance is done these rides could easily last until a freak fire or nuclear winter overtake them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. 1) Really depends on different factors. Some coasters are over 100 years old ex. Leap The Dips (Opened in 1902). It depends on the care during the lifetime, depends on safety, and depends on the park too. 2) If/when these rides close, they will be removed. Not every wooden coaster gets RMC'd. 3) Occupy yourself with other things.

  4. I would invite your friend no matter how big or small they are. Especially if you don't know if they will or wont fit. As stated above there are some tricks for larger people to ride and there are other things to do besides coasters. Each ride manufacturer is different and therefore depending on ones height and or weight might fit on Vortex but not on Beast or Flight of Fear. Your friend wont know until he tries. I have a large friend or two but I still invite them to go to the park when I go. At the end of the day you are there to spend time with your friends and that is what it is about, hanging out and having fun. I would bet that your big friend would appreciate the invite even if they don't go. Also keep in mind that it is not your fault if your friends do not fit on a ride. You have nothing to do with his size. I have a friend that used to be able to ride but can't fit on most coasters now and that is his fault and life choices that he doesn't fit. It was a very frustrating discovery for him that one season he could no longer fit. But I still invite him because he still enjoys hanging out with his friends.

  5. Fixed that for you. Well unless Mother Nature pops up a few mountains sometime soon you might have to wait a few million years for a Terrain Giga. I look forward to slightly smaller lines IF we get a generic Cedar Fair B&M giga. Can you hold my souvineer cup for me?

  6. With proper upkeep, they should be able to last longer than any steel coaster. The only way these two rides will be torn down is if ridership drops below the level that makes them worth keeping. Barring a decline in attendance at KI, I believe The Racer and The Beast are at stabilized ridership levels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Hopefully never. With a wooden coaster they are always building it replacing old wood. These rides are classics and still bring alot of guest into the park. In short I think they will stay until the park things they are losing money by keeping them open.

  8. If a Giga stayed low (like Intimidator 305) it could be a terrain coaster. It would be difficult to design with all that speed plus the terrain but not impossible. Between both its lifts The Beast has around 200ft of lift hill and is still considered a terrain coaster.

  9. Uh...there are a bunch of traditional wooden coasters pushing the century mark right now. As long as they're designed and maintained properly, they can last quite a while, longer than their steel counterparts.

  10. With actual maintenance, it's unlikely that they'd leave. Several wooden coasters have been around many multiples of the amount of time that RMC has existed. All roller coasters can be made to last indefinitely, as long as the park is willing to shell out the money to keep all aspects of them functioning well. I think it just boils down to demand versus profit, honestly--if people stop riding Racer, it will go away. If something prohibited Racer's trains from being maintained and the demand didn't justify purchasing new trains, it would go away. If the park decided that an Vekoma SLC in Racer's location would draw more people in than Racer, Racer might go away. I doubt Kings Island will ever be able to separate Beast from its identity, so I don't look for that to go away until the day the park closes, barring catastrophe, pestilence, or a plague of termites. Beast is why a lot of people across multiple generations visit the park. In my mind. Racer isn't quite as iconic, but still significant. Between significance and its pretty limited location, I don't look for it to leave soon, either. That being said, if the park WERE ever to remove one of them... I'd say they're heading for the trash pile. I don't see Cedar Fair or any other park chain being intent on preservation enough to try to move either one. Beast is too customized for the terrain, too. EDIT: Oh, yeah--as far as the "how do I not think about Opening Day" thing goes... I've been at this "coaster enthusiast" gig for almost nine years now, and I'm still trying to figure it out.

  13. Forgive me if there is already a topic on this, as I haven't been on here in months, but RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic has come to iOS and Android. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a combination of RCT 1 and 2. Most of the scenarios, including the Six Flags parks, are available. The game does cost $5.99 to purchase, and does give you the option to buy the Time Twister and Wacky Worlds expansion packs. NO JAILBREAK NEEDED. As far as game play is concerned, the game is pretty easy to navigate. It takes some getting used to, especially building walls, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad. The frame rate seems a little faster than the original game, but it's hardly noticeable. The sound is the same great sound from the original games, and if you have an iPhone 7 or 7plus, the stereo speakers will be put to use with the game. I hope you guys enjoy it just as much as me!!! 15. Been playing RCT Classic on my iPad for a couple days now. I'm loving it. Glad they were able to port it over so well. I do seem to have more vandalism than I remember having previously even with security guards monitoring short areas of paths all over the park.

  16. If you have the basic paramaeters of your build laid out I highly suggest following buildapcsales on Reddit religiously. Like 4-5 times a day. Most of the good deals in components get posted there very quickly so if you have a couple of months time frame and some patience you can save a lot and/or get better components that fit your budget. Especially if you are willing to play the rebate game. Also gpushack.com sells refurbed cards with a 2 year warranty, but their stock changes frequently so again you just have to check it every day. EVGA also runs some good sales on their B stock occasionally. And don't forget Microcenter open box inventory. Just make sure you have the ability to fully test out the compenent because the return window is usually only 14 days and if it is a GPU it was probably returned because it doesn't overclock well.

  17. That's a good looking build to me but I would recommend saving money on the gpu before the cpu. Not only are they easier and cheaper to replace but I run PC pretty well with a 760 GTX which is less powerful than the RX 480. Even the card from your budget build is more powerful than mine and would be fine to start out with. Lowering graphics settings can also help ease the load on the graphics card but the only way to ease the load considerably on the cpu is to have less rides and people in your park. Another note do not ever buy a single RAM stick, always buy them in identical pairs and even have all four sticks exactly the same if possible. It's better to have 2 4GB sticks than 1 8GB stick. If there is one part you can cheap out on it's the RAM. Those fancy sticks do little to improve performance, the total amount available is what matters. Make sure what you do buy has good reviews/quality though.

  18. I don't have money to actually do it, but based on the system requirements for Planet Coaster and what KIBeast said his budget was, I would probably build something like this (OS not included)...I went over by about $100 though due to the expensive i7...: Sub $800 i7 build- https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YvdqNN To get it under $700, you could try swapping the i7 out for an i5 though...not sure how much worse it would make Planet Coaster run, but most other PC games probably wouldn't care much about the CPU downgrade (for 90% of games it is the GPU that really matters- many budget builds even use i3's or worse and are fine). Planet Coaster is probably CPU heavy though due to all the simulation aspects. I also tried to make a "budget friendly" planet coaster build, but due to the game needing a pretty beefy CPU according to its system requirements, I could only really go down to around $500-ish with Intel and AMD has expensive motherboards... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TDFPvV To be fair to this PC it would be great for 1080p gaming in most cases though and is decent for the price- aka probably what I would get if I suddenly had $550 or so to spend on buying myself a new PC. (Currently I have a laptop. It has a decent i5, but the integrated graphics are very meh and can only play older games well...) Edit: Edited the budget build a little due to comment below mine having more advice- swapped the single stick of RAM for 2 4GB sticks.

  22. ^^^ Welcome to KICentral, by the way! That's known as the 11th Commandment around here.

  23. You forgot one of the founding principle rules of KICentral, though shall not mess with Adventure Express. I have never ridden an RMC, but I have trouble envisioning what an RMC conversion could do for AE's existing hybrid track (if one considers it a hybrid to begin with and not just a steel coaster that happens to sit on a wooden frame. AE is not rough in the classic wooden coaster sense. It has strong laterals; I would think an RMC wouldn't change that much at all. At that point, you are just spending money to say you are getting an RMC without taking advantage of all that RMC can give you. If/When KI gets an RMC, it should be a new ride from the ground up. Adventure Express works perfect as a solid family coaster that is the first step beyond FAAC for many kids.
